I am ever-so-slowly working on a book project. I want to write a book with a title something like, Help! Pastor. I think I am Losing My Faith: Help for the Doubter. I want to write a book that will be helpful to people who are going through a crisis of faith. Many of the atheist books are too polemical and tend to be “preachy.” I want this book to be more like a guide, a book that allows the seeker to find their way along the path from belief to unbelief. I also want this book to be a help to those who desire to retain some form of faith, but, at the same time want to break free from Evangelical Christianity
Often people with doubts go to their pastor or some other church leader. Many of you did this yourself. I would like to hear about your experience. You can either share it in the comment section or sent it to me in an email. This is one area where I lack expertise. (shock, I know you thought I knew e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g) I was a pastor so there was no one for me to go to. I would like to hear from people who went to their pastor or church leader with their doubts. If you could share your story with me I would really appreciate it.
I also would like to know what kind of questions you think should be answered in this book. Keep in mind, this book will not be a polemic against Christianity. I want to help facilitate a person’s journey and not attack their beliefs, even though I know part of facilitating a person’s journey requires knocking down some of their beliefs. (i.e. the Bible is inspired and inerrant)
I want this book to be readable, friendly, and supportive. I don’t want it to be a tome because I think it is almost impossible to get people to read such books. I hope you will help me with this project. I will make this post a sticky so it will stay at the top for several weeks.
Thanks in advance.
