Are You Ready to Soar With Pastor Eagle?

Darrell, over at Stuff Fundies Like, posted some pages from:

…a West Coast Baptist College memo from 2001 (PDF) in which Paul Chappell attempts to quash feelings of unease in his staff about a dating policy that is put in place specifically to cater to racism. The page numbers in the pages that follow indicate that the material is from some kind of official handbook.

While Darrell focused on the racism found in the documents, I want to focus on the page that reveals the elevated status the pastor has in many (most) IFB churches. Here’s the page I found most interesting. I will make no comment about it. Regular readers of this blog already know my opinion about this issue.

As you can see, it is all about God, the church, Jesus, the pastor.

Loved the bit where students are called to knit their hearts to Pastor’s as Jonathan knit his heart to David’s.

If David and Jonathan were having a same sex relationship as some people say they were, that sure would change things. :)

Eagles, make things happen. Turkeys watch things happen.

That sounds like something you hear at a sales training seminar or a motivational seminar you can attend for $98 at the local Holiday Inn ballroom.

    Turkeys make things happen too.

How else do you explain the yearly gathering of family members who otherwise can’t stand each other? Eagles don’t make that happen :P
