Season one of HBO’s hit series True Detective featured two detectives: Russ Cohle (Matthew McConaughey) and Marty Hart (Woody Harrelson).     Though I feel that the comment on I.Q. is misplaced, I think that for the most part the entire commentary on the tent meeting et al by Russ Cohle is a smack dab bulls-eye. The language virus of belief comment was particularly striking to me, so dead-on. Also, his partner’s final finger as he walks away. Christians often deal with contrary opinions this way, complete rejection. They do it to their own children, disown and shame them if they do not fall in line. It is indeed a sickness.

    Love the show, just started it, up to episode 4 at the moment.

    I really like his analysis, although I agree with Brian that I.Q. doesn’t really have much to do with it, neither does being overweight. Still he has a great delivery and interesting arguments.
