Today’s Sound of Fundamentalism is a clip taken from a sermon preached by Independent Fundamentalist Baptist Tony Hutson, pastor of Middle Tennessee Baptist Church, Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Hutson is the son of the late Curtis Hutson, one time IFB pastor and editor of the Sword of the Lord.
These people are laughing at the idea of child abuse that has been normalized by this man. And that is terrifying. God (ha!) forbid that any of these people be in charge of my child who is on the spectrum. There would be an ass beating and it wouldn’t involve my son’s ass.
This man is mentally ill, of course. I feel bad for any children around this old fart. He is product of Southern culture, where savage beatings are still held in high regard. It’s also where there are the most serial killers and interpersonal violence in the country, save the inner cities. Disgraceful !
This Do In Remembrance of Me
I’ve seen this man preach in person when I lived in East Tennessee before I left for the military, and I can verify I didn’t hear a single word that he said that seemed like the love of Christ. In one week, he preached hate towards Russians, Jews, Blacks, and women, even using a racial slur starting with a ‘w’ towards Mexicans behind the pulpit. Several of our youth actually got in trouble at their schools using some of the language used. It is the single reason I left my church, and he was only a guest preacher.
