The Sounds of Fundamentalism: Giving Homosexuals Over to Satan by John MacArthur

john macarthur

This is the twenty-fifth installment in The Sounds of Fundamentalism series. This is a series that I would like readers to help me with. If you know of a video clip that shows the crazy, cantankerous, or contradictory side of Evangelical Christianity, please send me an email with the name or link to the video. Please do not leave suggestions in the comment section.  Let’s have some fun!

Today’s Sound of Fundamentalism is a clip of a sermon preached by John MacArthur, pastor of Grace Community Church, Sun Valley, California.

About a year after coming out to my parents, I made the mistake of telling my evangelical mom I was agnostic. Of course her first reaction was shock followed by a you should read a book by John MacArthur about how the b-i-b-l-e is totally consistent (of course it is?). Naturally, that failed with me as I then proceeded to tell (maybe actually start an argument) her that there was no reason on earth I would listen to him about anything specifically because of what he said in this clip. Luckily one of my sisters was there to back me up on saying that MacArthur had lost any moral high ground because of his failure on this issue. I lucked out in many respects as she didnt outright reject me or do anything drastic when I first came out.
