The Sounds of Fundamentalism: Stacey Campbell, the Shaking Prophetess

stacey campbell

This is the eighty-ninth installment in The Sounds of Fundamentalism series. This is a series that I would like readers to help me with. If you know of a video clip that shows the crazy, cantankerous, or contradictory side of Evangelical Christianity, please send me an email with the name or link to the video. Please do not leave suggestions in the comment section.  Let’s have some fun!

Today’s Sound of Fundamentalism is a video clip of  a prophecy by prophetess Stacey Campbell. In any other setting, such behavior would land a person deluxe accommodations at the local psychiatric hospital.

I have given it all the thought/effort I can (14 seconds or so, I have a life) and have nothing to say about this. Well, maybe WTF????
What really bothers me the most about shit like this is how many gullible people there are in the audience.

She be got a good vibration on, a good shake’m, a willy-nilly jumparound for Jeebers! This is preaching as an exercise program, how to lose calories while standing in one spot and shaking your body parts. Shake me silly, Lawd. Oh, and Scotty, beam me the fuck up right now!

It’d be funny to re dub the video with the no no no no song by the “human beinz”

I’m a bit suspicious that, despite being enraptured, she didn’t drop the microphone.

Are you sure this belongs under “Sounds of Fundamentalism” and not “Sacrilegious Humor”? Not only is it clear she is acting, she sucks at it. How can people be duped by this shit?

Thanks for taking the time to write and post. I grew up in the pentecostal movement of the 70’s and remember this kind of craziness vividly. Even as a young child, I always had a sense that this was all fake-still don’t know how grown people can think this is possibly real. It appears she likes the attention.

Here in the great state of SC back when we first moved here in 1984, I was invited by a co-worker to her church (Assembly of God). As a nominal RC that grew up in NJ, all I could do was sit there with my mouth hanging open, thinking “HOLY SHIT, BATMAN! WHAT PLANET DID I JUST LAND ON???!!!” Yep, it was just like this. Ewwwww, it was bizarro land time.

If it’s the good lord shaking her then why’s she clearly out of breath? Why’d he shake her anyhow?

And I wonder what the truth is about her son who was diagnosed ‘95% not expected to walk’? I’ll put it at absolute best a gross exaggeration, but much more probably an outright lie. Lying just seems so natural to these sorts of people.

i’m pretty sure it’s demon possession — note how the shaking is almost DANCING, and dancing is surely of the devil! 😉
