Black Collar Crime: Evangelical Pastor Rose Amadasun Gets Probation for Beating Church Children With a Belt and Wires

rose amadasun

Rose Amadasun, pastor of Shine Forth Evangelistic Ministry (no web presence) in London, England, received probation for beating church children with a belt and wires.

The Croydon Guardian reports:

A South Norwood pastor who would blindfold children before hitting them with belts and wires has avoided jail.

Rose Amadasun, 49, of Beauchamp Road, was sentenced to 16 months’ imprisonment, suspended for 18 months at Croydon Crown Court on August 9.

She had admitted five counts of child cruelty at a previous hearing.

On Saturday, August 2, 2015 police were called by the manager of South Norwood Leisure Centre stating that two members of the public had informed her they had witnessed the female leader of a church group hitting children with a belt.

Officers spoke to the members of the public who stated they had seen a group of children being assaulted by a woman with a belt and shouting “Jesus” as she did so.

An investigation by detectives from the Child Abuse and Sexual Offences Command revealed that Amadasun had been abusing children she came into contact with through her work for a number of years.

As well as blindfolding the children and beating them, she was found to also shake them when they made a noise and force them to fast for a number of days at a time.

….

Detective Constable Giles Weeden, the investigating officer, said: “This was a complex enquiry that was often met with resistance as the congregation closed ranks to protect their religious leader.

It takes one sick puppy preacher to blindfold and whip but she had the authority of Jeeeeezus! Shake those little devils till they shut up!
No matter how obvious the abuse/sickness is, the congregation gathers around the pastor as if she was the abused one and not innocent children. Christianity has a slightly higher calling than bullyism, than sociopathic bipeds, you say?
Dunno, sure doesn’t seem like it.
(Oh, wait…. Rose Amadasun wasn’t DOING CHRISTIANITY RIGHT! You can’t blame Christianity for sick preachers and congregations that enable them.
    No? I can’t? Watch me.)

SMH. This sounds more like BDSM than a church service! There are just SO MANY things wrong with this, I don’t know where to begin! She should have gotten jail time, and if the parents of these children consented to allow this, that’s a problem too. And if they were unaware, I’d get as far away from this church as possible and I’d begin legal proceedings to ensure this woman could NEVER be a pastor (I even cringe to call her that) again!

Yes, that is correct. I was being a bit “tongue-in-cheek”‘ the definition of which is “without really meaning what one is saying or writing”. I was attempting to demonstrate how completely absurd, indefensible and reprehensible this woman’s behavior toward these children was. I am certainly aware that this was NOTHING like BDSM, and meant no disrespect to those who engage in the practice of such.

That this happened in England is because there is a strong Nigerian presence there. The churches in Africa that are based in Pentecostal theology do mistreat the children terribly. So thos women’s actions don’t surprise me. She really should have gone to jail.

i would like to say that i was one of the children in that church and the pastor was my aunt-in-law. she is a Jamaican “pastor” who brain washed parents into thinking beating us for silly reasons was correct. i was constantly beaten everyday trying to take the fall for other innocent children for not being perfect because I couldn’t bare to see others in so much pain and agony. this was not a church, it was a cult. the epiphany came to me whilst I was still being abused there when i saw them take hundreds of pounds from members of the church and use it for their own leisure. my dad was Nigerian and also did the same to me. my mom was the only one trying to find a way to get me out but couldn’t as she had to constantly work with two jobs everyday to earn enough more to look after my sister and i. as you can tell, this still haunts me to this day as i have only replied to you know but i have tried to find more information to find out wether the other children are okay and wether my dad was also put in jail as well as it wasn’t just a one-man thing.

HI Cyrus, I pray to God you see this message. I was a member of the church too and saw the newspaper article about her and would like to speak to someone else about it as I am too scared to speak to the congregation. Please get in touch, Marie

Cyrus, thank-you for being forthright and sharing your history. I am truly sorry to know how much you suffered as a child. I’m the son (now 68 years of age) of a fundamentalist Baptist preacher. I know how harmful the ideas are in the more extreme forms of protestant faith practice and I lament how children suffer by being so disrespected by their own parents (who no doubt were disrespected themselves as kids). They use Bible verses to support abuse, suggesting that a parent who loves their child will have to take the belt to them or the stick or anything hard that will make the child suffer.
I have spent time over the years getting counsel, therapy for the harm done to us by the rod of religion. I trust that you will be able to find the strength to seek help if you need it and to understand that it was never your fault that you were harmed. You were just a child, helpless to defend yourself. Thank-you for telling your story here and for your bravery in trying to help other children. The day is coming when this kind of collective harm is revealed for what it is, a sickness, a derangement of humanity.

Hello, Cyrus. How are you doing these days ? I hope you and the other children of this cult, will get healed of the trauma and brutal child abuse you all were subjected to . I’d like to refer you,and Marie, to a couple of books that Black communities all over the world- not just America- really need. ” Don’t Beat Black Kids,” by Asaada Kirkland, and ” Spare The Kids: Why Whupping Black Children Won’t Save Black America,” by Dr. Stacey Patton.. It looks like this beating thing with Black families is a global issue. I hope you can be an advocate, maybe, one day, for the kids.
