The Black Collar Crime Series relies on public news stories and publicly available information for its content. If any incorrect information is found, please contact Bruce Gerencser. Nothing in this post should be construed as an accusation of guilt. Those accused of crimes are innocent until proven guilty.

In 2015, Corey Butler, pastor of Jesus is the Way Christian Center in DeKalb, Illinois was charged with “possession of child pornography and dissemination of child pornography.” The 34-year-old Butler was arrested after the “Illinois Crimes against Children Task Force learned child pornography was being distributed from a computer at Butler’s address.” Butler admitted being on an adult porn site, but denied possessing or distributing child pornography. I wrote about this story here.

In April 2017, I wrote a post about Butler considering a plea deal. Butler decided to go to trial instead. In November 2017, I mentioned Butler’s lawyer’s attempt to use legal maneuvers to suppress the child porn found on his client’s computer.

Three years later, Butler still hasn’t had his day in court. According to the Daily Chronicle, the court has scheduled a November 6, 2018 trial date. Astoundingly, Butler is still the pastor of Jesus is the Way Christian Center.

Well if porn is a sin, what’s one step further? Disgusting. How do they understand nothing of consent or abuse? And people take their children there!? And I’m sure they wouldn’t believe their children if, god forbid, something were to happen. How is it legal that he is allowed to remain there when he is facing such charges?? Who in their right mind goes there??
