Christians Say the Darnedest Things: God Killed Congressman Elijah Cummings

We know the Bible. You’ve got a leader [Cummings] that has been in office for over 30 years, that opened the door on unfettered abortion in this country.

His civil rights icon status was a joke because he did nothing to bring rights to his people; all he did was divide, all he did was play the race card. He was one of the most extreme, crooked, deceptive, demonic attempt.

He used his power as a member of the Judiciary Committee – he would always twist the law. He would defend corruption. Everything that he’s done has been nothing but trying to take this president out.

I don’t say this with any disrespect [yes you do, asshole] to Cummings’ family, but I believe that God had had enough and God moved. [And how, exactly, does McDonald know this? Did God send him an email?]

— Christopher McDonald, Right Wing Watch, God Had Had Enough’: Chris McDonald Says God Killed Rep. Elijah Cummings for Opposing Trump, October 17, 2019

(Video Taken down by Christopher McDonald. Evidently, he doesn’t like all the attention he is getting from outside of his merry band of troglodytes.)

Independent Fundamentalist Baptist (IFB) pastor Stacey Shiflett was McDonald’s guest on the program. Shiflett agreed with everything McDonald said and added his own attacks on the person and memory of Elijah Cummings. My God, the man’s corpse isn’t even cold yet.

Previously, I praised Shiflett for standing up for sexual assault victims in IFB churches. Unfortunately, Shiflett’s true nature came out during McDonald’s show. He may stand up for victims of abuse, but he is also an asshole for Jesus.

Shiflett is the pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Dundalk, Maryland.

What a sorry piece of shit. Surprised that Pat Robertson or Jerry Falwell Jr didn’t say it first. Literally nothing any of these asshats say or do anymore have anything to do with Jesus.

Wonder why God had to wait so long. I mean, if He wanted to make a statement he could have struck him down with lightning before the man was so old it just looked like death that comes to all men.

God is pitifully weak in this world. Whatever happened to pillars of fire and cloud or the ground swallowing sinners alive?

Neither McDonald nor Schiflett are fit to have tied Elijah Cummings shoes, for throwing such unfounded insults at a dead man. Rep. Cummings was a man of unmatched integrity, honesty, and decency. He was my Representative, in Maryland’s 7th Congressional District, and repeatedly won re-election with huge majorities, because he worked hard to improve the area he represented, as well as voting for positive change for the rest of the country. His district includes not only parts of Baltimore City, but parts of counties to the south of the city–it looks rather like an elephant drinking from a pond–so his concerns were not only for the inner city, but for its wealthier suburbs. He will be greatly missed. For what it’s worth, Dundalk is not in the 7th District.

How ironic that he states Cummings “would defend corruption,” but “Everything that he’s done has been nothing but trying to take this president out.” Talk about having a HUGE BLIND SPOT. The Christian Right has become a destructive, regressive force.

No wonder the bully Trump sides with the Christian Right. They openly condemn anybody exercising their free vote unless it is to vote for Gawd’s chosen brother, the Donald. These guys are so far down the rabbit hole that they feel free to viciously hate (calling it Christian love) and to condemn Cummings to eternal hellfire. What utter rubbish.
Oh, BUT! the Christians cry out: These guys are not bona-fide, not true Christians! And the not-so-merry-round keeps spinning.
(BTW, I just love it when virus-brains like McDonald remind the audience that we are all wicked and deserve to be squashed by God. Is that a tiny speck of insight speeding by his eyes?)

These folks are so sold out for their political agenda that they are following the description of evildoers in their own Bible, calling good evil and evil good. Yet again, these Trump-loving evangelicals show their true colors and have given up every claim to being arbiters of morality.

If I was a religious person, which thankfully, I’m not, I’d swear these fundamentalist right wing nut job types were spawned from the devil himself and their mission is to fill these people with hatred, bigotry and misery of the soul so god can weed them out from any eventual good afterlife. This kind of trash would never cut the mustard, as they say.

How in the hell could Elijah Cummings be responsible for the “unfettered tide of abortion” when Roe v Wade was decided almost 50 years ago? That makes not a damn lick of sense.

No wonder Americans are increasingly indifferent towards Christianity!

@thatotherjean, you are so lucky to have lived in Rep. Cummings’ district.

    Rest in Power, Elijah Cummings!
