Hopefully, I will finally get my podcast up and running soon; “soon” meaning before Jesus returns to earth. I have taken to listening to secular, atheist, and humanist podcasts hoping to learn how best to put together a podcast. I have thoroughly enjoyed listening to some podcasts. Great production value and content. I have also been appalled by some of the podcasts. Awful quality, shallow, rambling, at times, incoherent content, and hosts who think they are doing stand-up comedy at a late-night gig in front of two people. Such is the nature of the internet, I suppose, but I have always been of the opinion that if I am going do something, I am going take the requisite time, effort and money the necessary to do a good job. Whether it’s writing for this blog, giving interviews (I have two this month) or producing a podcast/video, I want my work to be well received, even by Evangelicals who generally disagree with every word I say or write.
With these things in mind, what secular, atheist, or humanist podcasts do you recommend? Please leave your suggestions in the comment section. Links are appreciated. I am especially interested in podcasts of storytellers; men and women who have stories to tell.

A couple of YouTube channels I can recommend are Cosmic Skeptic and Genetically Modified Skeptic. I’m always impressed by the measured maturity of these young guys.
Straight White American Jesus with 2 professors of religious studies at secular universities and their guests is well produced, well researched, and a wealth of easy to understand content. This is hands down my favorite podcast
The Thinking Atheist
Sunday School Dropouts is funny – a deconstructed Christian and a cultural Jew read the Bible and talk about the good, the mostly bad, the mostly ugly, and the ridiculous
Mega – a comedy improv about a midwestern megachurch. Good if you’re in the mood for satire.
Stuff You Should Know – rarely do they hit on religious topics, but one or both used to be evangelical Christian. They typically don’t make judgments, but on gay conversion therapy they went off on how abusive it is. SYSK is great for catching up on things you might not be well versed in.
Crime Junkie – true crime episodes recounting mostly unsolved murders, disappearances, kidnappings, etc. Their early work isn’t so great, but then it gets good. Also exvangelical hosts.
Freakonomics
(Then I listen to a lot of obstacle course racing podcasts but you wouldn’t be interested in those)
Not your mother’s podcast. The young man who runs this was a youth pastor and graduate of Hyles-Anderson College.
Talk Heathen. It is a call in show, but there are usually guest hosts with interesting stories, and the calls are 20+ minutes and not usually contentious.
Atheist Experience… I usually listen to it on YouTube but I think it podcasts as well.
