The Sounds of Fundamentalism: Neil Armstrong Never Walked on the Moon

pastor paul lucas hillview baptist church

The Sounds of Fundamentalism is a series that I would like readers to help me with. If you know of a video clip that shows the crazy, cantankerous, or contradictory side of Evangelical Christianity, please send me an email with the name or link to the video. Please do not leave suggestions in the comment section.  Let’s have some fun!

Today’s Sound of Fundamentalism is a video clip of Independent Fundamentalist Baptist (IFB) pastor Paul Lucas reveling in his ignorance about the moon landing. Lucas is the pastor of Hillview Baptist Church in Fairmont, West Virginia.

The stupid it hurts, my precious. Argh. This kind of stupid kills. Lucky for us it will be him and his followers. More confirmation that religion causes brain damage. I need to find something smart before it damages me.

That sure is a testament to how unwavering belief in an ancient set of writings can undo an education. It’s no wonder why so many evangelicals believe conspiracy theories – they are taught not to seek evidence for anything.

so basically, these christians are quite the liars. My stepgrandfather believed this moon crap. one has to question the complete stupidity of these idiots since they on one hand want to be terrified of the “communists” but have to believe that somehow the “communists” were part of some conspiracy to fake the moon landings since Moscow had no problem acknowledging it.

I’m guessing this pastor also can’t believe in the existence of the International Space Station, satellites, space travel in general, and perhaps even high latitude international air travel (cloud formation is lower there?), all thanks to his faith.

So, tens of thousands of people are keeping secrets? Because airline pilots fly above the clouds. Same as all the people who “know” there is a flat earth but keep that secret too? Just a smidgen of logic destroys dude’s arguments, but hey, he doesn’t believe in that either. Hahahahahaha!

I was thinking it sounds like there are only 3 or 4 people there. I checked out the church on google maps. The parking lot would hold about 12 cars maximum if they were packed in like sardines. Pretty small church, I wonder how such a small congregation would be viable.

it’s like they are willfully stupid. i grew up being told not to believe science or anything that did not agree with the bible. it is truly scary that so many americans still believe this and follow idiots like this.
