Sounds of Fundamentalism: Pointing Index Finger Towards Heaven is Occultic

pastor cherie beltram

The Sounds of Fundamentalism is a series that I would like readers to help me with. If you know of a video clip that shows the crazy, cantankerous, or contradictory side of Evangelical Christianity, please send me an email with the name or link to the video. Please do not leave suggestions in the comment section.  Let’s have some fun!

Today’s Sound of Fundamentalism is a video clip of Evangelical pastor Cherie Beltram telling congregants at Three Hearts Church in New Caney, Texas, that pointing your index finder towards Heaven is occultic — but, raising your hands is not.

The more important question is … R they psychopaths ?? Could they be “humanoids” ??….. not quite fully human ?? Should they be given full human status ?? Its not an improper question to ask. Arguing with them could be like arguing with a mental patient. Rather, should psych hospitals be set up for them ? Would the Charter of Freedoms be heavily damaged if this happened ? We still have no known medical way of helping these poor delusional people. So. When do we stop taking these humanoids seriously ? Or do we all have a bit of THEM in us ?!?

This woman is a Pentecostal nut case. She seems to have no idea about how to interpret the scriptures, using the best of academic biblical scholarship nor how to develop theological arguments (She says that she is a Christian). Maybe she has been listening to her own internal monologue and concluded that God is speaking to her supernaturally, with his own revelation given to her privately. I feel sorry for those who are hoodwinked by her and are giving up their hard earned money, but the gullible will believe anything that these clowns tell them.

Pentecostals! If you can hear me: Beware of those claiming to hear from God. You would be better off believing in loving-kindness. It needs no churches, no religious gurus to interpret the bible or God’s will, nor any holy books claiming to know God’s will, nor any private revelations claiming to be from God. Just be kind to others wherever possible, and don’t be discouraged if you fail at times. Keep on persevering in kindness and you will become a better and kinder person today and tomorrow than you were yesterday.

Of course, I’ve had these nut cases (before) telling me that I am demon possessed and practicing the occult because I do yoga as one form of physical exercise that I do to stretch my muscles. Others have told me that I am demon possessed because I practice a loving-kindness meditation through deep, controlled and slow breathing by focusing my mind on being kind to others. Well, if I’m demon possessed give me more of it!
