Should We Put President Donald Trump’s Face on Mount Rushmore?

trump-rushmore

If there’s one thing most Americans can agree on, it is this: President Donald Trump is a pathological liar. There’s not a day that goes by without Trump uttering multiple lies. MAGA supporters dismiss his lying, saying, “Oh, that’s just Trump being Trump.” Maybe, but his lies can and do cause material harm to the United States and its people. I am at a loss to understand why millions of Americans still support Pinocchio. He’s lied so many times that his nose extends into outer space. Sure, all politicians lie, but Trump is in a class all his own. On this, Donald, you are, indeed, #1.

What, exactly, has Trump done for the working class and poor people? Not much. He has, in every way, made their lives harder. Trump says gas prices are down to $1.99, yet most of us are paying at least $3 a gallon. Supposedly, groceries cost less thanks to Trump, yet most of us are paying substantially more to put food on the table. My partner and I recently ate dinner at a local Mexican restaurant. Entrée prices are up $2 each. Everywhere I look, I see increasing costs. I put the blame for increased prices solely on President Trump and his enablers in Congress.

Worse, Trump is neck deep in the Jeffrey Epstein scandal. Trump denies ever being on Epstein’s island. Does anyone believe him? I know I don’t. Trump’s behavior suggests he has a “thing” for young, perhaps underage, women. He and Epstein were best buds at one time. Trump says that he broke with Epstein because he was poaching his employees — mainly young, attractive women. This is Trump’s red line, and not the fact that Epstein was a pedophile, a sexual predator.

Recently, MAGA politicians have suggested that Trump’s visage be carved on Mount Rushmore. He is — just ask the humble man — the best president in the history. This, of course, is another lie. Historians years from now will likely conclude that Trump was a lot more like Herbert Hoover than Abraham Lincoln or George Washington. He is one of the worst presidents to ever sit in the Oval Office. I can’t think of anything Trump has done to merit him being added to Mount Rushmore. The same goes for naming buildings, roads, waterways, and airports after Trump or giving him the Nobel Peace Prize. I thought Trump thinks the United States should be a meritocracy. If so, what has he done to merit having his face forever chiseled into stone on Mount Rushmore?

The only place I want to see Trump’s face is on urinal cakes. Take aim, men, and let’s show Trump what we really think of him.

I’m not American, but I vouch for “Honest Abe” Lincoln. Now, THAT was a guy who was honest! Who famously said. “I cannot tell a lie”…Abe was an honourable man, If only Trump would follow his example!

“ Should We Put President Donald Trump’s Face on Mount Rushmore?”

Sure, if Mt. Rushmore was located in North Korea. Would great next to the large statue of Dear Leader.

He doesn’t deserve any kind of memorial here in the US of A. I am eternally grateful that I will someday be able to tell my granddaughter that I never voted for Trump, even in 2016 when I was still a nominal Republican.

Considering that Mt Rushmore is/was Native land that was taken without their permission, it does not need more white faces added to it. If anything, maybe we should just let nature take its course

Some MAGAt wants to rename the Kennedy Center after Trump. Trump has not done anything for the arts. The Kennedy Center was named and dedicated to President Kennedy after his assassination. President and Mrs Kennedy were huge supporters of the arts. JFK invited the great Spanish (Catalan) cellist Pablo Casals to play at the White House which he accepted. Casals ordinarily did not perform in countries that recognized Francoist Spain so this was a big step for Casals. Trump has no class and is tacky beyond belief.

I saw that today. If they rename the Center, I hope performers will “just say no” to performing there. Trump doesn’t strike as a man of literature and the arts. He doesn’t read and shows little interest in anything except political power and money. Well, and underage girls. 🤬🤬

Agreed, and great posts all. Yes, the Black Hills is sacred to the Lakota, I think they call it Paha Sapa. They want these hills back. DT’s face doesn’t belong there ever.

Now why would anyone want to slam Trump’s face into Mount Rushmore ?

The party that supposedly hates participation trophies wants to give Dear Leader the biggest trophy of all. Trump will be remembered as the worst president in U.S. history. That’s a reality they will not face.

Donald Trump’s face should not be on Mount Rushmore. There are several reasons for my opinion, the main reason being I don’t want to see the four previous faces throw themselves off Mount Rushmore in disgust after Donald Trump’s portrait is put there. Also, I don’t want the wrath of some previously undisclosed Native American deity being provoked.

Why are we butchering mountains sacred to indigenous people in the first place?

The leaders of the US at various times, including tRump, have tons of written records describing who they are/were, their histories, opinions about issues that still matter today, etc. When Student in the 23rd century, learning about US history from the comfort of their lunar or Martian study room, accesses all that info, they’ll need their teacher’s assistance in distilling it down to summaries. Why the heck should they care about some butchered mountain that might have been taken out by a stray enemy missile by then?

I was privileged, back in my junior high school year of 1974-75, to take an honors US history class taught by an extremely insightful instructor. She helped me truly see that history is written by victors, that understanding the motivation of the writers was paramount, and truth exists within a muddying sea of nuance. I wish that I could capture that understanding and beam it into the brains of all my fellow voting citizens of every nation.
