Christians Say the Darnedest Things: Science MUST Agree with the Bible

Excerpt from The Question Every Christian Must Answer, by Dr. David Tee, whose real name is Derrick Thomas Thiessen. The grantor of Thiessen’s alleged doctorate is unknown. Make of that what you will. Regardless, Thiessen views himself as an expert on the Bible, history, science, archeology, LGBTQ issues, and why I’m no longer a Christian. Doubt me? Just ask him.

If science is pursued correctly and honestly, then science agrees with the Bible. What turns young minds away from biblical truths are the theories, opinions, and conclusions that are generated from unbelieving scientists.

It is their assumptions, leaps to conclusions, conjectures, and hypotheses that say the Bible is wrong, not true scientific exploration or facts. Once believers understand this truth, then holding on to their faith in the face of the onslaught from secular science becomes much easier.

It is their assumptions, leaps to conclusions, conjectures, and hypotheses that say the Bible is wrong, not true scientific exploration or facts.

….

When Christians take unbelieving or secular science over God’s words, then they are not exercising faith.

Instead, they are rejecting what God has said in favor of what unbelievers have claimed to be true. This is not just doubt but clear rejection of God’s words. Since God cannot lie, then we can take his word over what unbelieving scientists, archaeologists, anthropologists, and other unbelievers claim.

….

These institutions need to get back to God and rein in their science teachers/professors and get them to teach the truth, not unbelieving science.

….

The Bible is not wrong. It is the unbelieving scientists who are.

Steve, re: creation, I just wanted to add:

When God created all the sea creatures, birds, land animals etc., he figured out how to make both male and female (“be fruitful and multiply”), but when it came to creating man, God was apparently stumped on making a suitable helpmate. So, his solution was to clandestinely steal a rib.

The clue as to the ignorance is in the title “science must agree with the bible”. That statement is the very opposite of what science is about, as it states a conclusion prior to the evidence being adduced and considered. Tee is perhaps the most stupid of his type that I’ve yet encountered.

This is just authoritarian thinking, which dovetails so nicely, as we have seen, with Fundamentalism. Orwell summed it up beautifully in 1984 when he described how it was the Party’s final demand that one deny the evidence of one’s own eyes in favor of what the Party demanded to be true. Nothing special, just the same old drive to control everyone else.

Captain Cassidy has a very pertinent piece she published today on the desperate importance evangelicals place on god never lying.

    If I may quote
So when they look at Yahweh, leaders and followers alike must believe that he never lies. If Yahweh lies about anything at all, then he could easily lie about other things too. Small lies easily open the door to bigger ones.

That’s why Creationists fight real science as hard as they do. If they can’t trust the Creation myth, then what else in the Bible might be metaphor or folklore or poetic allusion or even just scribes altering stories on the fly to appeal more to current-day audiences? And when it comes to obeying their leaders, how can those demands be trusted to be divinely-derived if Yahweh gets things wrong?
