About

Bruce Gerencser

Welcome to the The Way Forward  blog.

My name is Bruce Gerencser. (Grr IN Sir)

I am 55 years old and I have been married to my college sweetheart for 34 years. We have six children and eight grandchildren.

I have a daughter and son in college, and 3 sons who are married. My oldest daughter has Down Syndrome and she lives at home.

I live in the rural NW Ohio village of Ney.

I attended Findlay High School, Findlay Ohio.

For three years I attended Midwestern Baptist College in Pontiac, Michigan.

For over 25 years I pastored Evangelical/Fundamentalist Baptist/Non-Denominational Churches in Ohio, Texas, and Michigan.

In 2003 I left the ministry. I have not pastored since. I attended church for the last time in 2008.

I am now a humanist and an atheist. Politically, I am a liberal.

I love sports. I am a Cincinnati Reds, Cincinnati Bengals, and Ohio State fan. I also love going to dirt track races.

I am an avid  book/magazine reader and television watcher. My  favorite TV programs are Homicide:Life on the Street, The Wire, Six Feet Under, True Blood, Treme, Dexter, The C Word, Game of Thrones, The Daily Show, and The Bill Maher Show. My all-time favorite movie is Mosquito Coast.

My favorite authors are Wendell Berry and Thomas Merton.

I am a serious amateur photographer. I currently use Minolta/Sony equipment.

I love to garden and work in the yard and I have high hopes of turning our yard into a jungle by the time I die.

Over the past 15 years, I have faced declining health from Fibromyalgia and MS-like neurological symptoms. I am disabled and I often must walk with a cane or use a wheelchair.

To my fellow restless wanderers I dedicate this blog.
