I Have COVID

On Monday, I tested positive for COVID-19. Polly and Bethany also tested positive. While both of them have relatively mild (bad cold-like) symptoms, I, on the other hand, am very, very sick.

My doctor prescribed me Paxlovid. I have been bedfast since Monday. The goal is to avoid the hospital. Well, that and not dying. 😇

I will not be doing any writing in the short term. If you’ve been sitting on guest post, now would be a good time to send it to me.

Hope you feel better soon. I just got over Covid last week and was put on Paxlovid as well. It worked wonders for me. Hope the same for you. I did a guest post which you used already:). Take care!

So sorry to hear. I hope you all have a speedy recovery. It seems to be rearing it’s ugly head again. My son and his new bride got covid during their honeymoon last week, too.

Wishing you all the best outcomes.

So sorry to hear that covid reached your family. Please get well. All I can offer is hopes and payers… and that’s not a typo, that’s an attempt at humor.

Bruce, so sorry to hear it.

I’ve been reading your blog since I read your excellent piece called “I Hate Jesus” for the third time or so. It gave vent to similar feelings on religion I’d been having but couldn’t really explain. I had spent some time as an Evangelical though not a very good one. I’ve since gone on to Episcopalianism where as Bishop Spong says “there’s no infallible Pope nor inerrant Word of God.”

Hoping you pull through. Your blog posts were always a delight to see in my mailbox. Peace.

Hope you feel better very soon. In the meantime, get some rest. If you get any nasty emails from religious zealots, send them over to us and we’ll do our best to handle them!

Damn. Just a reminder, for all we hear of people who get really sick and die from it, most of those who get really sick recover, it just takes time.

(Safe) hugs to all of you.

I hope you get better soon Bruce. Get some Elderberry gummies or syrup if you can, it might help. Plenty of Vitamin C and plenty of FUNNY SHOWS & MOVIES to make you laugh when you are not resting. 🙂

My son and his GF got it over the winter and they are healthy 20 somethings. Best wishes on the recovery. Besides viruses are another proof of God just not being there.

I am sorry to hear that. I am wishing you the best. You have a spirit that fights on, and that sometimes can be the best medicine.

Hey Bruce, I have just recently recovered from my strain….lost both my taste and smell but maintained some appetite and generally found the virus to be a ‘mild’ flu. I’ve just finished my 4th poke of vaccine here in B.C. It seems like the new variants, at least some of them, are less severe but far easier to contract.
You and yours are regularly in my thoughts! Thanks always for writing here… Take good care of one another and this will soon be past. Ain’t no dang COVID can take down Almighty.

Hope you all feel better soon, but PLEASE do your best to take it easy — what I’m hearing about Long Covid is that the best way to avoid is to take as much time as you possibly can to recover.

Ah, Bruce, I’m so sorry to hear that you have COVID !! I had that last October, the Delta strain. I was given the four-shot series of Regeneron at the ER for it. Once I realized that I indeed had that disease, I started taking a zinc complex, Jarrow brand quercetin, same brand, NAC, Doctor’s Best, Vitamin D3(chewables for you though)plus POM pomegranate juice ,the Vitamin C was in fizzy drink for, 1,000 milligrams 2x a day. The doctors said my oxygenation was good enough to keep me out of the hospital, the more antioxidants the better, and anything that prevents a cytokine storm. Chewable B-12 of the methylated variety helped the red blood cells(Jarrow again). I know, I know, it’s that subject of supplements-but it really made the difference in my case. I hope with all of you at home having got COVID, I hope one of your family members can buy these things for you. Please keep us updated. Best and fond wishes to you ! May you keep on blogging for a long, long time !

I’m so sorry Bruce. All the best for a speedy recovery. I had the Delta variety for the month of March. Went to my lungs with a chest infection and antibiotics did the trick. I must say that even though I tested negative after 2 weeks it took about anpther 6 weeks for all the symptoms to depart. So although one may feel a lot better the total recovery can take a while. My backache went on for more than the 6 weeks where I could barely get up from a chair or out of bed and then suddenly after about 2 months I realised it had disappeared completely; and for no particular reason.
It truly is the strangest illness.
All the best to Polly and Bethany too.
And thank you for all your blogs and articles. As an ex Christian of 40+ years in Pentecostalism I love reading of your experiences similar to that from which I too made a daring escape never to look back nor regret to this day in my mid 70s.

Get well soon. Is it your first time getting it? Maybe its better getting it now instead of in winter when there’s colds and flu going around as well.

    Bruce,

I’m sorry to hear that you’re crook. I had the spicy cough back in January and it’s no fun at all. Best wishes to you, Polly and Bethany. Get well soon.

    That is bad news.
I look forward to your recovery and, more selfishly, a continuation of your wisdom.

    Best wishes, of course,

Yikes! Bruce, Polly, Bethany–I’m sorry you’re sick. I hope your illnesses are short and uncomplicated, and you’re feeling much better soon. With all your health troubles, I’m not surprised that you’re stuck in bed. Rest up while you can. We’ll be here when you feel like posting again, Bruce.

I do hope you’re on the mend. My sister and her husband down in Dayton also just got covid. They are super tired and sleeping a lot. Here’s hoping you are on the mend now!

Hell of a week for Covid. I tested positive last Tuesday, along with about 5 of my friends who I’d been with over the weekend. Hope the paxlovid has been beneficial for you, Bruce, and that Polly and Bethany recover quickly.

Hi Bruce. I am so sorry COVID Omicron b.a. 5 has committed the crime of breaking and entering into your “bawd-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a.” That last part in quotation marks was a bit of humor inspired by the Carter family that lived in my neighborhood when I was a child. The Carters were unique—–to say the least. I wish you could have known them. No. I think it would be better to say: “I wish you had had an opportunity to observe and evaluate them.

I pray and hope you will have a rapid recovery with no long-term COVID symptoms—–after the fact. Don’t worry. Be happy. Be positive. Think on happy and funny things as best you can.
