Songs of Sacrilege: Ya’ll Motherfuckers Need Jesus by The Goddamn Gallows

This is the one hundred and second installment in the Songs of Sacrilege series. This is a series that I would like readers to help me with. If you know of a song that is irreverent towards religion, makes fun of religion, pokes fun at sincerely held religious beliefs, or challenges the firmly held religious beliefs of others, please send me an email.

Today’s Song of Sacrilege is Ya’ll Motherfuckers Need Jesus by The Goddamn Gallows.

Lyrics

Ya’ll motherfuckers need jesus
better end your wicked ways
well you know that he’s comin’
and you’re gonna be runnin’
when we’re at the end of days
ya’ll motherfuckers need jesus
but the devil’s in your soul
the father, the son, and the holy ghost

ya’ll motherfuckers need jesus
i see satan in your eyes
well i see you standin’ there
in your fancy clothes
don’t you know that you’re gonna die
ya’ll motherfuckers need jesus
but you keep your bible closed
the father, the son, and the holy ghost

ya’ll motherfuckers need jesus
whether if you’re rich or poor
well you know he’s gonna spite you
cuz you’re such a motherfucker
and he don’t like you no more
ya’ll motherfuckers need jesus
put you deep down in the hole
the father, the son, and the holy ghost

ya’ll motherfuckers need jesus
would he ever lie to me
well he don’t like evil
and he don’t like sinnin’
and he don’t like sodomy
ya’ll motherfuckers need jesus
but the devil’s in your soul
the father, the son, and the holy ghost

I recently had a christian conversion & about a week later i came upon this song….so, it interested me….i listened a few times & then i had to know the lyrics precisely & except for the swearing, its quite a good message & when they do it live when the singer says the lyric: “father, son & holy ghost” he crosses his chest with his hand, & then goes to his forehead with the trinity hand motion…. i really do think theyre sincere in what they say…they have another song called “serafina” about the order of angels described by issiah who sit at the throne of god, called in the Old Testament “the burning ones” because they burn with love for god, thats pretty deep if u ask me, like preacher-level deep/obscure….yes, they use some harsh language, but i think that its almost needed these days to get thru to people and “knock, knock, knock” on their craniums with the shock value of the phrase, —-this new generation has been desensitized to curse words, & the christian music of the past, like, of the 1980’s & 1990’s, is too vanilla to pull it off….i dont like the use of the blasphemous “GD” in this bands name, but, idk, it is what is….also, oriented as much in southern blues & bluegrass, their music sounds to like me what reverend gary davis, or doc watson, might be doing nowadays if they were born in 1970….i know swearing is bad, but i can get past it because i was raised with it all around me….& i think there are much worse things to be exposed to, especially these days. No offense intended with this, im totally sympathetic to being a warrior for christ & spreading the gospel & fighting for good in this fallen world, ive just been listening to this band a little bit these last weeks & ive also vetted them a bit; im usually a moron who is a horrible googler, so i could be completely wrong, i still have more research to do, but, so far i like them & i think they could make people my age & younger see the light…..u have to be extreme & hardcore these days….jesus himself could be pretty extreme….anyway, love & light to you, & stay blessed. Sorry if theres 100,000 typos in this comment.
