This is the one hundred and second installment in The Sounds of Fundamentalism series. This is a series that I would like readers to help me with. If you know of a video clip that shows the crazy, cantankerous, or contradictory side of Evangelical Christianity, please send me an email with the name or link to the video. Please do not leave suggestions in the comment section. Let’s have some fun!
Today’s Sound of Fundamentalism is a video clip of two supporters of Fundamentalist Alabama Justice Roy Moore sharing their “love” for transgenders.
The Christian lady speaking reveals her confusion very concisely.
She quite clearly dislikes everything the transgender person stands for, but she realises that her only objection is one based on religion, and God. The problem for her, and of course it’s one she would be unable to deal with, is that if an atheist were to ask her why what the man did was wrong, in other words assume for a moment there is no God, then she has nothing left. She’d be saying only that she doesn’t like or approve of his behaviour, and that would be bigotry.
The whole thing is so trivial that it’s annoying. With all the problems there are in the world why bother how other people live their lives. If you don’t like transgender people there’s an easy solution; don’t have a sex change. Otherwise let it go, live and let live, and to put it bluntly, grow up.
Evangelical, fundamental interpretations of writings are designed to harm others, to rebuke and reject them, in a similar fashion that the same teachings use to harm the self who chooses to follow them: Admit you are fallen and cannot manage without the magic eraser of faith.
Live and let live is a Satanic saying that leads to liberalism and allows fine, upstanding American believers to NOT take a stand against the evils of homosexual love and to permit perversion to claim our children! Imagine, a man in a dress! Ridiculous! Am I losing my mind?
Trivial, you say? Satanist!
Yawn….(lol)
