Republican and Democratic legislators alike want criminalize speech in opposition to the nation of Israel. Criticizing Israel’s genocidal war against the Palestinian people is labeled antisemitic. It’s evident that most politicians couldn’t define the difference between antisemitism and anti-zionism if their lives depended on it.

Four months into the Trump presidency, I’ve concluded that the President is a bully who loves to cause people to fear what might happen to them if they dare go against him. As a result, many law firms, corporations, politicians, and media companies have stopped speaking truth to power. And like most bullies, Trump will fold if people and companies stand their ground. Why so many business leaders and politicians don’t understand this is perplexing, to say the least.
It is clear, at least to me, that former President Joe Biden never should have run for reelection. Had Democrats understood this earlier, they could have had a real primary to choose a candidate to run against Trump. I have no doubt that Kamala Harris would not have won the primary.
Any thoughts about battling climate change are over. President Trump is doing everything he can to destroy the climate. My grandchildren will pay the price for Trump’s anti-climate, anti- environment agenda. Species are dying off, and that includes us.
It’s summertime. Time to attend ballgames and concerts. Last week, we heard A Girl Named Tom. This week, we plan to hear The Fray. Other concerts on the schedule include 1985 (an 80s cover band), Killer Queen (a Queen cover band), Buffalo Rose, and Redferrin (country). Also on the schedule are minor league and Cincinnati Reds baseball games, dirt track car races, and plays, dance recitals, and baseball/softball games. Other concerts will be added later once they are announced.
Bonus: Want a kitten? We have eight of them. Two of last year’s feral cats had a litter of four kittens each. We do what we can for the stray and feral cats who visit our yard. However, we already have four cats — all strays — so we cannot take any more in. I plan to talk to the humane society about establishing a trap/neuter/release program for our community. The cats aren’t to blame; the assholes who abandoned them are. Someone told me that I should stop feeding the cats, and then they will go elsewhere. True, but I firmly believe I have a moral obligation to do what I can for the cats. All the cats survived the winter thanks to the heated boxes we put out for them. On some cold nights, there would be 4-5 cats in the boxes. I still felt sorry for them, but I’m glad they survived the winter.

Bruce, as someone who has had cat 🐈 companions for most of my married life, I just wanted to say “thank you” for going above and beyond to care for the cats in your neighborhood. Anyone who abuses or neglects an animal, particularly a house cat, is an asshole (I think Kristi Noem may fall into this category- she reportedly bragged about shooting one of her dogs). I understand sometimes tough decisions have to be made, we have had to make them ourselves when our cat companions were suffering from old age. But anyone who has had to be there in a cat’s final moments will know what I am talking about when I say that losing one really leaves a void in your soul.
I am happy to see that more folks are posting on Facebook, You Tube etc videos showing how to care for feral cats with outside shelters. With the increase of coyotes in Ohio, these cats are vulnerable to attack. Also, oft times the “feral” cat is actually a former inside cat that someone just decided to abandon, so it does not have the instincts and abilities a cat that grew up totally feral has.
Concerning Joe Biden, I listened to a podcast this weekend- The New Yorker radio hour which featured the authors of a book that’s being released about this. I know hindsight is always 20-20, but as a former Republican now turned Democrat (thanks to the MAGA cult and Dear Leader) it frustrates me that we are going through this again because the party that is supposed to be the anti thesis of MAGA assholery kind of did the same thing to the opponents of a Joe Biden second term snd a Kamala Harris non-primary candidacy. Here, drink this kool aid and be happy, or else you’re one of “them”.

Thank you for caring for the cats. I just saw last week that a house where the older owners who fed neighborhood feral cats has been demolished, and a new McMansion is being built in uts place. I’m on the lookout for the cata now – at dinnertime you’d see upwards of 20 cats in the driveway eating cat food.
I will NEVER understand what happened that caused Biden to seek 2nd term. I DISTINCTLY remember him saying during the 2020 campaign he’d be a one-term interim president. I can’t forgive him or those around him who changed that scenario.
The Trump administration is incredibly embarrassing and dangerous. There are dozens of issues.

Interesting that the military is always exempt from cutting. Eisenhower warned us. In reality all of the cuts were poorly done and illegally done. After staff cuts, service will tank, and then conservatives will say “government doesn’t work”. Government actually DOES work IF YOU PAY FOR IT. With a military 10x the size of our rivals, there is certain to be waste. If we usher in the Trump utopia, become an authoritarian country I have to wonder what are we “defending”?
While RFK Jr. is a crank, he’s not wrong about taking a dip in a stream. Nature is fairly clean, and the only difference between that stream and a lake is the actual count of colonies. Why do health depts. do this? Well there are people without robust immune systems that will get sick, and possibly worse. But keep in mind it is a qualitative difference not a qualitative difference.
Unfortunately, no Democrat would have won against Trump. Every country with western style republics had turnover. The exception is Canada, which was only saved because Trump is so bad he is losing for conservatives in other countries. This is a direct result of post Covid inflation. Inflation is like alcohol, the good effects come quickly (during Trump 45), the bad effects come later (during Biden 46). If Biden bowed out and we had a primary Kamala would have won, though she would be battered. (A successful President not seeking re-election will typically result in his VP being selected.)
I have to wonder why all this talk about Biden? Maybe for MAGA to distract how BAD Trump is? They actually picked the “worst” 4 minutes of the Liu interview, but guess what? Not knowing dates isn’t really a sign of dementia. The question I’d have did Biden forget or never know in the first place? People mistake the election year and the inauguration year all the time as well.
