[Billy Graham] is a hundred percent devoted. The Lord sees his heart, gives him a tremendous ministry, and who do you think is sitting in the background going, ‘I have to do something about this, this guy is sold out, I have to do something’? Who do you think is sitting in the background doing that? The devil, right?
So, in 1942, that is when Billy Graham’s ministry really takes off, and who do you think was born in 1942? Stephen Hawking. Stephen Hawking comes from a long line of atheists—his father and all these people—so I believe the devil said, ‘OK, this guy was just born and I’m going to use this guy. This guy is already primed to accept my message that there is no God. He is already primed for it, he is going to be awash, immersed in atheism all his years as a child, I’m going to take over this guy’s life.
I believe Stephen Hawking was kept alive by demonic forces. I believe that it was the demonic realm that kept this man alive as a virtual vegetable his entire life just so he could spread this message that there is no God.
— Mike Shoesmith, Carl Gallups radio show interview, March 16, 2018
I sometimes wonder whether these guys really believe the things they are saying or whether, having seen what years and years of outrageous statements have done for the careers of people like Ann Coulter, they think it might be a way to go viral and reach more ears.
I sort of believe they believe what they’re saying. But I still wonder.
I so wish I could say that Fundamentalists don’t believe the words they say and write; that they are just Elmer Gantry-like shit-stirrers out to fleece Christians. I’ve met a few men who were con-artists, but most of preachers I knew were true believers.
You know, when any individual is in a delusional state, they are true believers. True believers can also and most often are stirrers of shite. They spray the shite far and wide and are proud to be TRUE, fathersonand holyspirit, hooklineandsinker…
Regarding Mike Shoesmith: I’ve followed his YouTube channel for more than 10 years. He started as the “Internet Pastor” and had a series where he “educated” various atheists, in particular Thunderf00t. I put a nuanced comment as a rebuttal. He later deleted it but contacted me saying that it was an accident and he was sorry. So while he’s always been a Christian kook I’ve known him to be cordial. Most of his videos aren’t Christian rants, they are an eclectic mix typically about his job as a Canadian over-sized truck driver and less commonly about his home life. To some degree I’d say he has been seeking for Youtube fame since day one, I guess he finally found it.
Stephen Hawking will be remembered for his contributions to science, and humanity, long after Billy Graham (and this Shoesmith asshat) have been forgotten, and their putrid, disgusting, white supremacist “gospel” is flushed down the toilet of history.
When one’s reality is based on fantasy and a 2,000 year old book, and demons out to get you, it messes up people’s minds. I am having to deprogram myself from extreme conspiracy theories and other gunk that clogged up my mind. The anti-science stuff now is so upsetting to me. In fundie circles, they told me scientists were liars and wicked.
I believe that fundies want to kill science, because science is more and more proving their religion wrong. I can’t even explain how I escaped, it’s like one day I woke up and thought, this is all bullshit. They had me afraid of the demons and the “new world order” and I talked about this crud to others. , I read Demon Haunted World by Carl Sagan when I was young, and before I became a Christian, and I think some of it’s messages were still buried in my mind. They are poisoning minds against scientists on purpose, this is why you see this attack on Hawking. I heard enough of this crud.
I think seeing the world as the God vs. the Devil Fantasy Battle Zone, screws up minds. It did mine. It broke my reality even. Was I insane? No I was lucid, but I believed insane things.
