Christians Say the Darnedest Things: The Slippery Slope of Our Oversexualized Culture — Porn Leads to Rape

Because of the culture being oversexualized, porn’s not a big deal. And if porn’s not a big deal, sexting’s not a big deal. If sexting’s not a big deal, sexual assault’s not a big deal. If sexual assault’s not a big deal, rape’s not a big deal, and all of a sudden we build a culture around the lie that sex is just this thing that happens between two people when they get together.

Reminds me of the twisted logic employed by a high school world history teacher.

If you fail this test, you’ll fail the course.

If you fail the course, you’ll have to drop out of high school.

If you drop out of high school, you’ll be drafted into the army.

If you’re drafted into the army, you’ll be sent to Vietnam to fight.

I’f you’re sent to Vietnam to fight, you’ll get killed.

Therefore, if you fail to pass this test, you’ll get killed.

The teacher was being sarcastic. He knew it. We students knew it.

Doubtful that Joshua Boone is bright enough to employ sarcasm as part of his humor repertoire.

In my experience Christian’s are highly skilled at oversexualizing everything. Womens clothing, swimsuits, makeup, hairstyles, normal, conversation, music, using a bathroom, the list is endless.

It is almost like Christian’s are so obsessed with sex that they inject it into everything.

Hmm. I don’t care what porn people watch or participate in as long as it involves consenting adults.* Whereas many Christians are big on heterosexual sex, and are willing to overlook marital rape, statutory rape, non-consensual sex, in short, sex that heterosexual men want. Not buying this idea above at all.

*Now, there might be stuff I wouldn’t want to know about for any reason, and would be repulsed, but that is me, not a legal situation.

Ha! Glad this is explained as someone speaking on their way from porn to Jesus! The church will help the traveller realize that it is not rape at all to take your wife whenever you please without her consent because God ordained it! Funny that society is becoming that way too, emulating the Christians in rape porn? This is very deep stuff that I will have to struggle with for awhile. FReally spiritual issues like this are so hard….. jeeeezzzzz.

If sexting’s not a big deal, sexual assault’s not a big deal

No, any sane person can see that this one is the step across the hard line, not just an ordinary part of a slippery slope. This is the point where it crosses over to violence and violating someone else’s rights. The two sides of that hard line are completely different from each other. It’s not a natural progression.

It’s actually the Bible and Koran, which legitimize non-consensual sex in a variety of cases, that blur the critical line of respecting vs transgressing individual self-determination, and thus facilitate a progression to sexual assaults — and in practice actual church hierarchies seem to be rife with sexual predators, much more so than the general population.

This is a person who really DOES sound like they need fear of a deity in order not to commit heinous crimes.

These people remain obsessed what everyone but themselves do in bed and with whom. Between this, the guy who thinks feminism is a “perversion” and them thinking everyone needs to wear their sexuality out where everyone one can see the definition of “sin” seems to be all about sex. If they would stop trying to run everyone’s sex life, sexuality could just a normal part of being human rather than something they need to control. And we’ve plenty of examples of them having no idea of what they are doing.

Sexual perversion is whatever I think someone else is doing behind closed doors.

Porn is a depiction of it.

At least, that seems to be the thought process, if it can be called that, of folks like Boone.

BJW and Brian: Do you think that in railing against “sexual perversion” and porn, folks like him are running interference for clergy members and others who commit the real sexual crimes?

Tom–Although I am too young (though not by many years!) to have been drafted for Vietnam, I heard versions of that warning.

More than a few young men stayed in school for as long as they could, sometimes without even completing a degree or other certification, simply to avoild being drafted.

If any of these dummies had a clue, they’d realize rape isn’t about sex-its about control of another human being.

Lacy—Upton Sinclair said that it’s difficult to get a man to understand something when his salary depends on not understanding it.

I can’t help it, I don’t believe his story. He claims to have been in porn and known 30+ actresses real names who took their own life. I would need to know his porn name or actual evidence he was what he claims to have been, otherwise it is just a story like Mike Warnke claiming to be the high priest of a satanic coven and killing people. Anyone could claim that and use it as a money making opportunity in the christian biz.

    • Solmead

So I looked him up, and he was in porn like he claimed. But he quit porn because the producers wouldn’t let him go back to straight porn after he switched to gay porn.
