The Dr. David Tee Saga — Part Five

David Tee/Derrick Thomas Thiessen is the tall man in the back

Dr. David Tee is a fake name used by Derrick Thomas Thiessen, a Christian Missionary and Alliance preacher who fled the United States/Canada twenty years ago and now lives in the Philippines. Thiessen has spent the past two years ripping off my writing, hurling sermons at me, and attacking my character. He has written over one hundred posts about me. And at times, I respond. (Search for Dr. David Tee and Derrick Thomas Thiessen.)

This concludes the series titled The Dr. David Tee Saga. From this point forward, Tee/Derrick Thomas Thiessen will not be mentioned on this site. I’m sure he will continue to “correct” me, but I will not respond.

Here’s what Tee wrote about me last week:

Why is he so afraid?

BG [Bruce Gerencser] continues to publish distorted materials about us [this series] and we wonder why he is so afraid of us? All we do is point out the error of his thinking and content and do nothing else. He is a quitter and we have not known one quitter to have any credibility whatsoever.

He offers everyone nothing save his own disbelief, blank ideas, and baseless declarations. He has no credible evidence to support his views. Maybe he is tired of being reminded of the dreadful mistake that he made so many years ago when he left the faith.

We wish we could redeem him but he seems to be happy in his dark life. ‘His story’ is boring, old, and not new as he is just another person in a long line of former believers who have left the faith and blamed everyone else for their departure.

Maybe he does not like being reminded of what he has left and lost? We cannot be sure but he really should stop making himself an internet laughingstock as people laugh at his inability to continue in his faith. Who celebrates a quitter? God doesn’t.

But he likes the bad attention as he likes playing the victim so we do not expect to see any change in him. It is just sad to see a person being used like he is.

I will leave it to others to decide whether what Thiessen said about me is true. I’m confident thoughtful people will see Thiessen’s rant as pure projection; the man looking in the mirror.

Thiessen has been given the opportunity to write a facts-based rebuttal to the material provided by W.W. Jacobs.

Let me conclude this post with two more things about Thiessen you may not know.

First, Thiessen is a 1980 graduate of a Bible college in Canada. It is doubtful Thiessen has a doctorate, and if by some slim chance he does, the degree is likely from an unaccredited institution or diploma mill — both of which abound in Evangelicalism. Thiessen has been repeatedly asked by numerous people to provide documentation for his claim that he has a doctorate. Thiessen refuses to do so, saying that “God knows,” and that is all that matters.

Second, “Dr. David Tee” is a name given to Thiessen by fellow students during his Bible college days. I viewed a college publication in which Thiessen, the student, is called “Dr. Tee.”

Bruce Gerencser, 66, lives in rural Northwest Ohio with his wife of 45 years. He and his wife have six grown children and thirteen grandchildren. Bruce pastored Evangelical churches for twenty-five years in Ohio, Texas, and Michigan. Bruce left the ministry in 2005, and in 2008 he left Christianity. Bruce is now a humanist and an atheist.

“He has no credible evidence to support his views” Quoting “Dr Tee”. Oh brother. Almost hilarious coming from a socalled evangelical. You first “Dr. Tee” Favor us with credible evidence to support YOUR views and indeed anything about who and what you are.

Yeah, i think Derrick has learned his lesson about challenging people to produce evidence against him when he opines on the best way to be a Christian husband, Christian father, member of a Christian body of believers, Christian citizen, etc., and people question his standing to do so.

Also kind of interesting how he likes to beat Bruce over the head about events in his life from over a decade ago, but feels wronged when someone talks about things he has done repeatedly for over half of his life. Funny thing, though … I’ve been saying the exact same things about him for a year. A year ago, he was insisting that I was a liar. Now he’s simply saying “it’s in the past.” Meaning he was lying when he called my comments a fabrication.

Derrick is belatedly finding that gaslighting is much easier when there isn’t a paper trail.

I will note that nicknames given by others can be very suggestive. Leading a large group of engineers on a long project, back in the late 1980s/early 1990s, I was very progress-focused. We had a lot to get done and ridiculous deadlines. So while I never got angry with any team member, or said unkind things about them, when the team members engaged with me, they knew I would be asking about progress, and doing my utmost best to help them solve problems. Meanwhile, to senior management, who pestered me to push my people harder, I pushed back hard. There are only so many hours in a day, and we were working with difficult technology. When management decided we should work three rotating shifts, so some people were always working on system test (to impress a military customer, not to actually make stuff happen faster), I tried to overlap each of the shifts I was NOT working by at least a couple of hours, so my team wouldn’t feel abandoned (and I could actually go home and not answer the phone for a few hours, so I could sleep).

Behind my back, they called me Joan of Arc. I still consider it an honor. Did I burn out? Big time. I don’t recommend that anyone else do this.

But hanging with the faculty when I went back to university to get a master’s degree at 45, I really understood for the first time what that PhD actually represents, in terms of hard, committed work at a secularly-accredited university, and what a professorship also represents. Plus, what gaining tenure is all about. (Not putting down all religiously-accredited institutions, to be sure, but I have now patience for diploma mills.) I would be embarrassed as all hell if anyone ever called me Dr., and apologize for being a jerk.

I think I’ve figured the nickname ‘Dr David Tee’. DDT! That well known insecticide, though in his case rather than killing pests he became one!

Tee spilling more tea. “But he likes the bad attention as he likes playing the victim so we do not expect to see any change in him. It is just sad to see a person being used like he is.”

Tee Hee is obviously mentally ill. And a hypocrite, who’s real life is a joke. Now that the truth is out about his life in the States, he has huge feet of clay. Because he’s a Fundie. And has a double life, like most of them. And caused more harm than good- especially when defending those who abuse children in various ways ! Only fellow abusive types defend him. No surprise there.

He actually is mentally ill and has refused treatment for it. To be fair, apparently one treatment option presented to him involved group therapy, which, I can appreciate not being comfortable with that approach, but he’s refused any approach save for the one recommended by a “pastor – wearing – a – counselor – hat” with no actual training regarding such matters, to wit, “don’t worry, just ignore it and it will go away.”

One of his former “significant others” stated that his illness once manifested in the form of a casual observation about the relative ease with which he could kill her and get away with it. My depression has manifested in a far less “Investigation Discovery”-esque manner and my partner would never have let me get away with just … not doing anything about it.

Meh, Mr Tee doesn’t say much of substance. He focuses on calling Bruce a quitter and trying to diminish Bruce’s life story. That’s boring.
