Benjamin Netanyahu nominating Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize is akin to nominating OJ Simpson for husband of the year. (From The Daily Show)
The Jeffrey Epstein client list doesn’t exist says Attorney Pam Bondi, after telling the American people it was sitting on her desk to be reviewed. Shock! Another Trump cabinet official lies to the American people.
Congress needs to criminalize law enforcement wearing masks in an attempt to evade identification and accountability. If I have to show law enforcement identification, they should, at the very least: give their name and department and reason for stopping or arresting someone.
The Trump Administration put on a show of force at MacArthur Park in Los Angeles. The park was flooded with law enforcement, soldiers, and military vehicles, scaring the bejesus out of innocent park users. Just what Trump wants — fear.
Alligator Alcatraz is testimony to the brutality of the Trump Administration’s war against undocumented workers.
Scores of devout Christian Texans were swept away and drowned in recent flash floods. A tragedy of the first degree, but I can’t help but wonder where God was as his followers were drowning.
I hope Musk follows through on his political threats. Nothing better than a junior high lunch room food fight to distract the MAGA crowd.
Did you notice that many of the tax cuts passed by Republicans don’t take effect until after the 2026 midterm election? Cowards.
Trump does something right . . . Airline passengers no longer have to remove their shoes during TSA screening.
Listening to a non-parent Evangelical justify beating children if they disobey. Here’s hoping he never has children.
Bonus: The IRS ended prohibitions on churches endorsing candidates. Good riddance! Now it is time to start taxing churches and end tax benefits that only apply to ministers.
Bruce Gerencser, 68, lives in rural Northwest Ohio with his wife of 47 years. He and his wife have six grown children and sixteen grandchildren. Bruce pastored Evangelical churches for twenty-five years in Ohio, Texas, and Michigan. Bruce left the ministry in 2005, and in 2008 he left Christianity. Bruce is now a humanist and an atheist.

“I can’t help but wonder where God was as his followers were drowning.”
Me too. And I wonder, did God want those people to drown?
If he wanted them to drown, then why even question if we could have done better? No matter how hard we work to save people, if God wants them to drown, why resist his will?
But if God didn’t want them to drown, why didn’t he do anything?
What happened in Texas was tragic. The heroes saw what was happening and did something. Where was God?
About passengers no longer having to take their shoes off in TSA lines, to quote an old saying “Even a stopped clock is right twice a day.”
Thanks Bruce. I am glad to know that I am not alone in my thought process about these topics.
Trump for the Nobel? Why not Putin?
Pam Bondi? It seems that information trickling out, that our beloved President may have been knee deep with ole Jeff, preying on teenage girls, perhaps even younger. I hope you reserve a spot in your Black Collar Crimes notebook for Trumpy. How many pictures of ole Jeff and Don hanging together does it take before the maga fools start connecting the dots?
ICE, and the Military taking on the citizenry in MacArthur Park? Isn’t that what a paramilitary organization called the Brown Shirts under Ernest Rohm did in Germany back in the day?
Texas Flood (no not the SRV guitar God version) THE God’s plan?, especially for those that lost their lives (over 100 now with a reported 170 still missing) was rather cruel. Old Testament cruel. I think I will VOMIT if I hear survivors “Thanking God”.
Musk? LOL, Sig Hieling wanna be American Oligarch? Drug addict, and a guy that fathers a new child once a month by different concubines? (Talk about Christian Values). Getting what he deserves, ANYBODY that supports D.T. gets exactly what they have coming……….SCREWED. I hear Tesla is doing great……lol. The board of directors and stock holders are headed to Moscow for a swan dive off one of Putin’s balconies.
How many “vermin” will the GOP kill with the Big Beautiful Genocide Bill? While they are popping champagne corks and making offers on yet another French Vineyard, they have implemented the American Version of a Genocide.
They are so happy and proud! I hope they have considered expanding garbage collection to pick up the corpses. After all it may offend their kids limousine rides to private Christian charter schools seeing the bodies.
IRS giving preachers tax breaks………….. LMAO, yep, them mega/maga super-church boyz gotta upgrade to the newest model Lear.
It infuriates me when people with no parenting experience think they can offer guidance and advice on the subject. No two kids are alike, there’s numerous ‘experts’ throwing out ideas based on psychological waffle, and armchair know-it-alls spouting stuff they really should keep to themselves.
On a slightly related note, I once had a customer of mine at a previous job rebuke me, because she asked if my wife and I planned to have more kids, and I said no. She mistakenly believed she had a right to an opinion on the subject, and did know the circumstances of my wife and I at the time. Her misplaced aggression really annoyed me.
Hi, Bruce. Stellar posts, all ! I was thinking about these things as I listened to NPR,my morning fix. A functional weather warning system could have prevented all those Texas deaths, but it was voted down. I hope the loved ones who survived will sue every person who cast that vote ! Including Gov. Abbott if he’s a party to this. Netanyahu and DT should nominate Putin and Xi, all considered in the dictators’ club. And who was the a-hole Evangelical who says kids who disobey should be beaten?? I’d love to know. Mayor Bass was in McArthur Park, while all that ICE stuff was going on. This park was one of the ones I was brought to as a child, long before the rents here made people homeless. Some famous delis and restaurants are going to be closing permanently. They’ve been there between 50- 100+ years.
I’m currently watching reports about the Texas floods. What a horrible tragic event! But then they are showing big groups of people singing “Amazing Grace” and praising God, like he did anything great. Meanwhile, UNICEF came out this week with a report that 64 Million kids in Africa under 5 years old are in dire risk of starving to death this year. Yeah, pretty fucking Amazing!!!
I’m also elated the IRS ended prohibitions on churches endorsing candidates. It was never enforced anyway, though I suspect churches were at least discreet. The wall of separation protects churches as much as it protects secular government. When churches become political they will lose in the end. Once they become another political arm, there will be little argument they should be taxed for their political activity. I’ll be generous though, they can certainly write off any charitable works they do. Sermonizing and clubhousing aren’t charitable works.
