Christians Say the Darnedest Things: Atheists Are Ingrates Who Refuse to Acknowledge the Goodness of God

david j stewart

Truly, April Fool’s Day is a fitting holiday for all the Communistic, Rock-n-Rolling, Satanic, immoral, child-murdering, feminist, ATHEISTS in the world. There’s not a bigger bunch of fools on the planet.

….

When the truth is revealed, there’s no such thing as an atheist. There are only ingrates who refuse to acknowledge the goodness and omnipotent power of God. Romans 1:20 confirms that there is no such thing as an atheist. All the proof anyone needs of God is found right outside your front door, which is why on Judgment Day all professed atheists will be without excuse. I assure you that there are no atheists in Hell.

Do you know where most atheists are from? They come out of heathen State universities. Most young people profess to be homosexuals in a heathen university, which is where they are indoctrinated with that garbage. Most people decide to become atheist [sic] in some heathen school. Colossians 2:4 and 18, “And this I say, lest any man should beguile you with enticing words. … Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind.” The Scriptures warn about taking unsound advice from unsaved people.

“Do you know where most atheists are from? They come out of heathen State universities. Most young people profess to be homosexuals in a heathen university, which is where they are indoctrinated with that garbage. Most people decide to become atheist [sic] in some heathen school. ”
What garbage! I’ve attended multiple colleges and universities and there was no indoctrination to become atheist or non-straight. There were student organizations for various religions, for greek groups, for LGBTQ orientation, for ballroom dancing, and even for the Sherlock Holmes Club. (That was long before Robert Downey, Jr and Benedict Cumberbatch.)

I did read somewhere that most children who will later claim to be LGBTQ knew that there was something different about themselves from an early age, they just didn’t have the words for it until later.
No fundamentalist is going to do the quick searches I did to find this article:

Their entire article can be flipped on its head. Indoctrination… fundies live for indoctrination. They devote countless hours to brainwashing others for their cause. I had a quick look at their site, felt queasy and left. It’s a cesspit.

What a nasty post this Stewart fellow wrote. Some “Christian” he is. Interesting that he demonizes (giggle) state colleges, and doesn’t say anything about community colleges or Ivy League universities also being workshops for Satan. So, don’t worry about attending Yale on a scholarship, Fundy friends! You’re safe! And what’s this all about, “All the proof anyone needs of God is found right outside your front door.” Does he mean the doormat? The potted plant? The kitty meowing and scratching to get you to open the door? Those sure are proof of God, yes indeed, sir! 😄

So atheists come out of universities. I’ll treat the word university as a metaphor for education generally. Does he not, therefore, think that the link between education and atheism is telling, and that perhaps him not being educated is why he clings to his superstitions?

I graduated from a heathen private university, thank you very much! My husband graduated from the same university, and my daughter will graduate from it in May. When I was attending, most students were some kind of Christian. My daughter said most students are some kind of theist or deist, and she thinks that she is among a handful of atheists. Actually, she didn’t think much about it until this semester in a communications course on the first amendment where the lecturer is trying to carefully mask his right-leaning politics, and the most vocal students in the class are right-wing Christians, the LGBTQ students, and herself (and she is careful not to tip her hand that she’s atheist because she thinks the religious kids will stop listening to what she has to say). She does acknowledge that in some of her courses there are readings that downgrade religion (like readings from Robert Ingersoll for example) but she agreed with them and didn’t really notice. She doubts that anyone became atheist from that though…..

My master’s thesis advisor at one of those heathen state schools taught a general upper-division science course called Prehistoric Life. There were no science or math prerequisites, all undergrads had to take some upper-division general science class, and Dave’s classes were popular. He was an excellent lecturer and took great care in grading his students’ work with lots of comments, so that they could learn why what they wrote was a mistake or incomplete. He always did it in blue pen, and my parting gift to him after my degree was awarded was a box of his favorite (non-refillable) blue pens. He’s since retired.

Dave invariably got a couple of Seventh-Day Adventists or other young-earth creationists every semester as students in his section. They’d ask if they could answer his test questions and write other assignments from a Biblical point of view. He always made his position clear: “I am teaching science’s best current understanding of how life on earth evolved, and with what timeline. Your exams and assignments need to reflect that you are learning what I am teaching. Whether you actually believe it or not is irrelevant.”

Roughly 30% of the students who had that conversation with him stuck with the class, and by the end were not so strongly persuaded of Biblical inerrancy regarding the age and history of the earth. The others invariably dropped out halfway through, and next semester signed up for something like a nutrition class that didn’t challenge their beliefs.

I went to one of those heathen state universities and….joined the Christian Fellowship. And edited its newsletter. And led a Bible study, And went to an Evangelical church twice a week.

Then I joined the Army Reserves and got married for the benefits, I mean, because they would straighten me out, i.e., make a man out of me. That worked well, didn’t it? Just like being an Evangelical Christian kept me from becoming an atheist, after I graduated from that heathen state university.

    Let’s see: “. . . Communistic, Rock-n-Rolling, Satanic, immoral, child-murdering, feminist, ATHEISTS. . . .

Only one out of seven. I’m definitely a feminist, only mostly an atheist (I think of myself as agnostic), and I’m a little old for rock and roll. My dancing days are over. I did graduate from a state university, though. While I was there, not a soul tried to indoctrinate me into Satanism, child-murder, or immorality, and I remain resolutely heterosexual, although I support LGBT people without reserve.

Who is this nutcase, who has clearly never spent a day in a university in any state–or he’s just lying about what goes on there.
