Christians Say the Darnedest Things: The White House is “Holy” Ground

donald trump and paula white

The church is Christ’s body in which he speaks and acts and by which he fills everything, including the White House, including government halls.

How does he do that? He does that through you. He does that through me. Wherever I go, God rules. When I walk on White House grounds, God walks on White House grounds. When I walked in The River, God walked in The River. When I go in the dry cleaners, that dry cleaning place becomes holy. I have every right and authority to declare the White House as holy ground because I was standing there and where I stand is holy.

— Paula White, Right Wing Watch, Paula White: The White House Is ‘Holy Ground’ Because ‘Where I Stand Is Holy’, July 8, 2019

Thrice married Paula White is chairwoman of the Evangelical Advisory Board to President Donald Trump and pastor of New Destiny Christian Center in Apopka, Florida. Much like President Trump, White has a checkered past, including accusations of having an affair with Benny Hinn. She is currently married to rock musician Jonathan Cain of Journey fame.

Cannot believe Jonathan Cain married this thing. Dammit, I love the “Escape” era Journey. I know, nothing to do with the story but this is the first opportunity I’ve had to cry in my beer over my favorite Journey keyboardist.

She is a proponent of the “prosperity gospel,” which is also espoused by the preacher Creflo A. Dollar. (You can’t make this stuff up.) As I understand it, Jesus died to make it possible for us to live without the burden of poverty, not sin.

By that logic, Jesus’ death and resurrection should have wiped out all student debt. (Bernie Sanders would lose part of his platform!)

She also said, in essence, that Jesus could not have been a criminal because, if he were, he would have been a sinner and therefore could not be the Messiah. She used this argument when someone pointed out that Jesus’ flight to Egypt would have been illegal had there been any concept of illegal immigration at that time.

I guess she’s qualified to be a Trump advisor because she and he have about the same level of logical and critical thinking skills. Oh, and they are on their third marriages.
