Christians Say the Darnedest Things: Evangelical Pastor Doug Wilson’s View of Women and Marital Sex

pastor doug wilson

A final aspect of rape that should be briefly mentioned is perhaps closer to home. Because we have forgotten the biblical concepts of true authority and submission, or more accurately, have rebelled against them, we have created a climate in which caricatures of authority and submission intrude upon our lives with violence. When we quarrel with the way the world is, we find that the world has ways of getting back at us.

In other words, however we try, the sexual act cannot be made into an egalitarian pleasuring party. A man penetrates, conquers, colonizes, plants. A woman receives, surrenders, accepts. This is of course offensive to all egalitarians, and so our culture has rebelled against the concept of authority and submission in marriage. This means that we have sought to suppress the concepts of authority and submission as they relate to the marriage bed.

This person is dangerous in my opinion. He is an intelligent, very dedicated fundamentalist with a considerable position of religious authority with his followers. I am not very knowledgeable about him, but I would not be surprised if he endorses toxic theology like Christian nationalism, from what I have seen.

“A man penetrates, conquers, colonizes, plants. A woman receives, surrenders, accepts.”

What century or planet does this dude live in?

Forget about guys with box cutters and explosives in their shoes. We need to protect ourselves against the likes of Pastor Wilson.

This guy and those like him are dangerous.

There’s a fitness guy I used to follow, Ben Greenfield. He did a lot of n=1 experiments, would explore a lot of different things in health, fitness, and nutrition. He had a podcast for awhile about obstacle course racing which I am really into. Anyway, he got more and more into woo, but again with n=1 slant so it wasn’t like he was promoting things as end all be all super cures. Well….then he started mentioning his Christian faith. Fine, whatever, you do you. Then there was the “I am learning to grow up and be a better man, husband, father, leader of my family.” Umm….OK, kind of icky but you do you. Then he started hawking a gratitude devotional journal. Ok… But then he had “an old friend and trusted pastor” Doug Wilson on his show and I was like, “I’M OUT”. Doing some digging I found out that Ben Greenfield’s sister Natalie had been groomed and sexually abused as a 14 year old child by a 20-something pastor in training and Doug Wilson defended the guy. Doug Wilson is NOT a good guy.

Omg I used to listen to Greenfield too after his review of BPC-157 peptide. I feel sorry for his sister. Hopefully she has nothing to do with him now.

Ange, from.what I read it pretty much ripped the family apart. It must have been a traumatic situation for them all, especially if you’re living in a community that supports grooming of teen girls to be wed to older men to whom these girls must submit. It seems like Ben went back into that community I guess?

This guy sounds like a rapist. I hope he doesn’t have daughters because this sounds like the type of man who would justify incest.

A long time ago, I read an article in Ms. Magazine where a feminist writer, discussing traditional sex roles, said we say a man penetrates a woman, when it could easily be said she envelopes him. The woman envelopes, pulls in, swallows the man? The patriarchy can’t handle that!
This pastor seems to be calling for rape. How many of the men in his church will heed the call? Scary indeed.

The person for whom Christianity is named was conceived by a hit-and-run father.

Is it any wonder that rape is enabled and rapists are defended?

Wilson refused to take any accountability for putting Jamin Wight in a position where Wight groomed Ms. Greenfield. He also refused to take any accountability for marrying a fixated infant pedophile, Steven Sitler, to a young woman who knew nothing about Sitler’s pedophilia. Sitler could not be trusted alone with his own infant son when his wife had their baby son. Again, Doug Wilson thinks he’s correct and everyone who disagrees with him is wrong.

https://www.trinityfoundation.org/journal.php?id=207 No one should regard the “pastor” of Christ’s Church of Moscow Idaho as either a good man or a qualified Theologian. I’ll admit that I often theologian shop in order to see how batty and unqualified some people are to be pastors. Maybe it is just my imagination, but often seems that the worst of them tend to gravitate to the Rocky mountain states. Then again, the same could be said for those ” pastors” who gravitate to south of the Mason-Dixon line.

It is also interesting that Wilson stands amongst the criticized pastors in the link, and their critics contain mostly professors of a sort.
