Christians Say the Darnedest Things: Hysterical James Dobson Says Secularists are Trying to Destroy the United States

james dobson

I’d like to now turn our attention to a matter of great importance. As you know, the Declaration of Independence was formally adopted on July 4th, 1776, now 247 years ago. Our sweet land of liberty has remained a beacon of light in a dark world. Yet, when I survey the moral landscape across our country, I have grown increasingly concerned that the great light is waning.

Let’s consider the lay of the land. Many states are passing the most liberal abortion laws ever. Alarming numbers of our public schools and cultural institutions are hostile toward Christianity. Political leaders are tearing down statues that venerate our founding fathers. President Joe Biden and his administration are promoting drag queens and transgenders at White House events. Our government has weaponized its intelligence agencies against political opponents, pro-life advocates, and parents who stand up to protect their children against the radicalized LGBTQ agenda. Our borders have become open doors for illegal immigrants, while drugs and human trafficking are running rampant. The leaders of this administration and our armed forces are placing woke ideologies as a priority above preparing warriors for battle.

Our great nation is being distorted by the radical Left into a morally broken land of division and despair. The end game could be the destruction of all that is good and noble. We, as Christians, are the greatest force standing between those who hate America and those who love it.

As I see it, we can be the generation that preserves the light of liberty, but if we fail in this critical assignment, this light could be extinguished. Shirley and I are fervently praying that God’s people will use their influence for the betterment of our culture.

….

We are witnessing an unprecedented campaign to secularize our society and demoralize our institutions in every sector. The effort has been enormously successful. Most forms of prayer have been declared unconstitutional in our nation’s schools, even those prayers which are student-initiated. The Ten Commandments have been prohibited on school bulletin boards. Secular universities are blatantly hostile to faith-based precepts, and the media screams “Foul!” whenever someone speaks openly of his or her Christian beliefs.

This is supposed to be the wonderful land of the free, yet we have gagged and bound many of our public officials, teachers, elected representatives, and judges. Since we have effectively censored these leaders and their expressions of faith in public life, the predictable is happening: a generation of young people is growing up with very little understanding of the spiritual principles on which our country was founded. And we wonder why so many of them can kill, steal, take drugs, and engage in promiscuous sex with no pangs of conscience. We have taught them that right and wrong are arbitrary—subjective—changing. They’ve learned their lessons well.

Bruce, maybe this isn’t the place to promote the following, but I’m in the middle of reading a book authored by Bradley Onishi titled “Preparing For War: The Extremist History of White Christian Nationalism – and What Comes Next”. I’m only about half-way through the book, yet, just reading the above by James Dobson, I felt the need to mention this book by Onishi. If you feel compelled to delete this comment, I totally understand. But, as someone (me) who used to whole-heartedly trust the musings / authority of James Dobson back in the 80s and 90s, I now see him as a political opportunist who falls into the category of the Christian Nationalists that Onishi describes in his book. Cheers!

‘….Our sweet land of liberty has remained a beacon of light in a dark world…’ Well, that almost had me ROTFL at the same time as spluttering my first caffeine-fix of the morning over my laptop! Sorry, Mr James Deluded Dobson, that really ain’t so. I heard a BBC R4 report recently on something about the POTUS and Trump, say ‘the leader of the western world,’ I’d not heard that description of a POTUS for a long time either! I just told an american friend that I going on a cruise. He said he’d been on one when living in his homeland, down the east coast of the USA. He said he noticed some fellow passengers were uneasy when the ship was out of sight of land….presumably to them, the USA is the only country in the world and they were scared of losing sight of it maybe!

Dobson’s editorial repeats, practically verbatim, what any White/Christian Nationalist would say at a campaign rally.

The closest he comes to originality is when he says “gagged and bound” rather than “bound and gagged.”

And the only thing that is remotely factual is what he says about the border. Yes, drugs and people are trafficked across it. But what does that have to do with the liberal conspiracy he hallucinates? If anything, the reasons why people illegally transport themselves and others, and drugs and other items, across deserts or a river have to do with policies of the centrist and right-wing military, political and business establishments. They are the ones who rigged elections and fomented coups that ushered in corrupt regimes that carried water for said American establishment. There is no more foolproof recipe for desperation—and the measures to which it drives people—than the corruption we see in the “Northern Triangle,” Haiti and other places people are fleeing. They are the ones who are trying to cross the border, by whatever means.

Mr Dobson, yes, we secularists ARE trying to destroy the United States!

Nah, man, I’m just fucking with you.

Seriously, it’s your group of people who are actively taking away rights from people. And your group of people barking about the removal of statues of traitors to the US who literally fought to keep people with darker skin enslaved. And your group of people who passed laws in states like Texas and Tennessee requiring the Christian 10 Commandments to be put on walls in classrooms, yet you bark about “pErSeCuTiOn”. Your group of people wants white Christian native-born patriarchal authoritarian supremacy to dominate the US.

Dobson: “a generation of young people is growing up with very little understanding of the spiritual principles on which our country was founded.”

Zoe: They sure are. They haven’t a clue how they and their ancestors got here and they haven’t a clue of the “spiritual principles” that were here when their ancestors came ashore. They haven’t a clue that they did not find this country. This country and its people were here before their ancestors arrived. They think Adam and Eve were white Christian nationalists. You’re right Dobson, you messed up big time.

Dodson is 87 years old and will be gone soon. My best bet: “On the day when he finally dies, all of creation will breathe a deep sigh of relief that his sorry, politicized ass is finally gone.” It would be better for some men that they had never been born. Just think of how much better and happier the Christian faith in the United States would have been if he and his fundie ilk had never been born!!!
