Christians Say the Darnedest Things: Lori Alexander’s Husband Loves Walking on the Beach. Dare We Wonder Why?

lori and ken alexander

About five years ago, women began wearing thong bathing suits on our beaches here in San Diego. When they were laying on their stomachs on their towels, they looked naked. I got to the place where I despised walking on the beaches with my husband. I hated being where naked and promiscuous women were, but he liked walking on the beach, so we continued walking on the beach. Well, those same beaches have completely eroded and are filled with rocks so we no longer walk along it. God took care of that!

Aren’t Christians supposed to avoid sin, abstaining from the very appearance of evil? Yet, Ken Alexander wants to take daily strolls down beaches littered with almost naked women (and men). Shouldn’t Alexander refrain from going places where he might be tempted to lust? Of course, Alexander is a man. Jesus may be in his heart, but he loves nice asses and breasts. 🙂 Asses and breasts win every time. 🙂 Advice to Lori: don’t let Ken walk on the beach alone. 🙂

But God took care of it!

I have lived my entire life in California. I know quite a bit about how various government entities manage, or don’t manage, beaches. Our natural beaches occur where 1) the overall land is not naturally sinking over time, and 2) there is a stream that moves sediment out to the edge of the landmass. Beaches also grow and shrink with the seasons, as wave activity alternately reduces and reinforces them. But we Californians recreate a whole lot on our beaches, and so do our visitors. I don’t live close enough for more than an occasional visit, and I also live in Northern California, where women wearing thong bikinis on our beaches would quickly become hypothermic, unless they’re in one of a few, very sheltered, coves. The wind tends to be cold and fierce, and the water is very cold. Our rocks-to-sand ratio is fairly high, and some of my favorite beaches have hardly any sand, except at low tide, but some really, really fascinating rocks.

The Southland (bottom third or so of the state’s coastline) is very different. Miles upon miles of wide beaches, often without sufficient renewal from streams, that exist due to careful, usually municipal, maintenance. Beaches are a huge boon to the coastal cities, since they indirectly put a lot of visitor’s dollars into local coffers. It’s a big deal, and my commentary here isn’t a criticism at all (even if I personally find those rock-free beaches boring). But if the money isn’t there to maintain the beach, to bring in truckloads of sand each year to refill the beaches, if a city can’t pay to have the thing groomed regularly…stuff happens. Sand is eroded away by waves, and the things can easily be reduced to rocks. In some cases, if the beach is part of a natural environment that is protected and not well-served by having a beach, it’s allowed to revert to a natural state. If a coastline-perturbing structure is created that interferes with natural wave and sand movement (like a jetty that protects access to a harbor) the whole beach game is up for grabs, and too often, the entity that constructs the structure hasn’t bothered to ask a licensed geologist about what problems it might cause.

In short, if God wants to mess with a beach in California, he can darn well get in line behind a whole lot of municipalities, citizens interest groups, and natural processes. Alexander is willfully ignorant.

Isn’t there a Christian hymn that says you’ll never walk alone?

If that’s true, when Mr. Lori Alexander goes for his fix of T and A, does his Lord accompany him? If so, is he, sightseeing, um, I mean, checking on his creation? Or is he just the security detail?

So Lori remarked to Jesus that she noticed when she looked at her husband’s footprints on the beach she usually saw two sets of footprints except when there was a woman with a thong lying nearby and then there was only one set of footprints. And Jesus answered “ that’s when I held him up so the frustrated bastard could get a better look.”
