Friend Me on Facebook

Last year, tired of dealing with trolls and insufferable Evangelical zealots, I left Facebook. Unfortunately, this move cut me off from many of my friends and family members. So, I have decided to return to Facebook. If you are inclined to do so, please send me a friend request. I am interested in friendships with people who regularly read my writing and support the work I do. I am NOT interested in friendships with trolls and apologists. I treat Facebook like the corner pub on a Friday night; a noisy boisterous place to hang out with family, friends, and acquaintances.

You can find my social media profiles here:

I look forward to interacting with you on Facebook.

Light Writing Schedule Next Week

blogging

Next week, I will not post as many articles as I typically do. I need to take care of some things on the homefront. I also need to devote a couple of days to get my podcast off the ground. So, if you come to this site and don’t see any new posts, don’t worry, the rapture hasn’t taken place. Once saved, always saved, baby. When Jesus comes in the clouds to snatch away his bride, Bruce the Atheist will be going with him. 🙂

You can help me a bit while I am off doing other things by writing a guest post. If you want to share your story or have something you would like to share with the world, please send it to me and I will have Carolyn edit it. Posts of any kind are welcome, especially deconversion stories. Please email your submission to me here.

Thank you for your love and support.

Are You Expecting an Email Response From Me?

blogging

Several months ago, I switched to using an email address from mail.com. Mail.com offers alias addresses, so I started using brucegerencser@atheist.com for contact form email. I responded to seventy-five or so emails with this address. Unfortunately, I have learned from Carolyn, my editor, and other readers that emails from me using this address ended up in their spam folders. Carolyn and I tried numerous “tricks” to fix this problem, but nothing worked. As a result, I have switched to a Gmail address for blog-related emails.

I plan to try to re-send the aforementioned emails. If you emailed me and never got a response, please send your email to me again. I’ve been blogging since 2007– fifteen years. I answer EVERY email I receive. Due to my declining health, I am hopelessly behind in answering emails. That said, I do eventually answer them. At times, I have been two to three months behind. There will be days when I get a bit of wind in my sails and I will answer a bunch of emails. Recently, I answered twenty-five emails over a forty-eight-hour period.

I have a Contact Page because I genuinely want to hear from readers. I pride myself on being open, honest, and accessible. This means, of course, that I am going to get emails from people I call Assholes for Jesus®. The reason I changed email addresses several months ago was due to one Evangelical man’s incessant harassment of me. I am trying to do a better job at recognizing such people and not using a real address to respond to them. Instead, I use an anonymous email service to reply to them.

As always, thank you for your love and support.

Do You Have a Story to Tell?

guest posts

I plan on taking some time off in the near future. I would love to have you write a guest post for this site, if you are interested. In particular, I am interested in hearing from people who would like to share their deconversion stories. Maybe you have posted your story elsewhere. I am more than happy to share it here. Perhaps you have never put your story into words. This is your chance to have thousands of people read your story! Don’t worry about whether your story is “good” enough or grammatically correct. Carolyn, my editor, will whip your story into fine form.

Posts on other subjects are welcome too. This offer is also open to my Evangelical critics, people who want to set me straight or deconstruct my life. Please send all submissions via the Contact Page.

Thanks for your help!

Comment Policy

simplified blogging

Updated January 1, 2022

All commenters are expected to use a functioning email address. The use of a fake or non-functioning email address will result in your comment being deleted. Pseudonyms are permitted. All first time comments and comments with more than one HTML link are moderated. Before commenting, please read the ABOUT page to acquaint yourself with my background. You might also want to read the Dear Evangelical page. The following type of comments will not be approved:

  • Preachy/sermonizing comment
  • Extensive Bible verse quoting comment
  • Evangelizing comment
  • I am praying for you comment
  • You are going to Hell comment
  • You never were saved comment
  • You never were a Christian comment
  • Any comment that is a personal attack
  • Any comment that is not on point with what the post is about
  • Any comment that denigrates abuse victims
  • Any comment that attacks LGBTQ people

I write about issues that might not be child-friendly. Please be aware of this. I also use profanity from time to time and I allow the use of profanity in the comment section. The Life and Times of Bruce Gerencser is not a democracy where anyone has a right to say whatever they want. This is my personal blog and I reserve the right to approve or not approve any comment. When a comment or a commenter is abusive towards the community of people who read this blog, I reserve the right to ban the commenter. If you can be respectful, decent, and thoughtful, your comment will always be approved. Unfortunately, there are many people — Evangelical/Fundamentalist Christians in particular — who have a hard time playing well with others. They often use a passive-aggressive approach towards me and the non-Christian people who frequent this blog. This kind of behavior will not be tolerated and will result in a permanent ban. This blog is also not a place for hardcore atheists to preach the gospel of atheism. While I am an atheist, many of the people who red this blog are not. Frank, honest, open, and passionate discussion about religion, Christianity, and Evangelicalism is encouraged and welcome. However, I do expect atheists not to attack, badger, or denigrate people who still believe in God. If you are respectful, decent, and thoughtful, you will be fine. My writing is direct and pointed and so is my response to comments. Please do not confuse my directness and pointedness with me attacking you or your religion. This is a grown-up blog, so crying that I offended you or “attacked” your religion will fall on deaf ears. If you can play by these rules, I hope you will become a part of our community and join the discussion.

My Annual Banned and Blocked List Reset

blogging

Over the course of the calendar year, a handful of commenters end up on the banned (unable to comment) and/or blocked (unable to access this site) lists. It is my custom to clear all the email addresses and IP addresses from these lists at the end of each year. Thus, these misbehaving children once again have a chance to demonstrate that they can play well with others. And as sure as the sun comes up in the morning, their new commenting freedom will quickly land them on the banned and/or blocked lists yet again. That’s just the way it is for Christian Assholes. But, I want to give them an opportunity to show that they have repented and changed their ways. So . . . it’s 2022, who will be the first person banned and/or blocked? Shall we start a betting pool now?

Happy New Year!

I Am No Longer on Social Media

social media

I recently closed all my social media accounts. This will allow me to focus my attention on this site instead of dealing with multiple streams of comments and messages. If people want to comment on something I have written, they will have to do so here. Further, if people want to email me, they will have to do so through the Contact Form. My health continues to be the tail that wags the dog, so I’m being increasingly forced to focus on essentials, cutting out superfluous services and activities.

Thank you for your understanding.

Let me conclude this post with a bit of stupidity from Evangelical Christian John Fanortney (likely a fake name). You can read my previous post about Fanortney here.

john fanortney (1)
john fanortney (2)

john fanortney (4)

Fanortney posted his last comment hours after I closed my YouTube account. If you close your YouTube account, your comments are deleted. Instead of recognizing and understanding this, Little Lord John Fanortney thinks I deleted my comments due to his withering exposure of my inconsistencies and leftist ideas. Sure, Johnny boy, sure. 🙂
