This is the one hundred and thirty-ninth installment in The Sounds of Fundamentalism series. This is a series that I would like readers to help me with. If you know of a video clip that shows the crazy, cantankerous, or contradictory side of Evangelical Christianity, please send me an email with the name or link to the video. Please do not leave suggestions in the comment section. Let’s have some fun!
Today’s Sound of Fundamentalism is a video clip of Pentecostal R.W. Schambach healing the sick and disabled.
My understanding is that you were once a pastor yourself; did any one force to, or where you trying to make some money out of religion? And now that it didn’t workout for you, you’re trying to make money out of anti-religion, aren’t you?
It’s sad really to see you turning into fundamentalism yourself. There are millions of atheists out there who would never dream of discussing religion or faith or even think about it in their daily lives.
Why would you bother? Let people be and think what they want to think. Why are you so opposing to the freedom of belief? Ask yourself that question and cut down the excuses. Get yourself an art class or do therapy to wine down and find peace at your old age. And please allow your ill wife to find peace too. She deserves it after being your wife for so long.
*sigh*
It’s OK, Bruce. You can go relax on the yacht you bought from all the money you make from this blog. LOL
Sophia… you stop sending your missionaries to other countries and your Dominionists to Congress and then we can talk about live and let live.
Sophia, the point about this post is that somebody is pretending to heal people by laying on hands, whilst running what seems to be a broadway theatre show at the same time. The dishonesty involved is insulting to the intelligence.
The points you make actually seem to have nothing to do with the video clip anyhow, so in fact it’s difficult to know why you make them.
Oh wow! Sophia is just amazing isn’t she Bruce? Look at that. She must know you really well and have such great insight into all things Bruce and Polly too by the looks of it. Thank goodness people like Sophia exist in this world to help straighten some of us out. Where has she been your whole life? Well, not to worry. She’s here now.
“Wine” down Bruce. 😉
Oh, those tricky “faith healers”… and people still believe and give them their money. I suppose the healers earn their money as entertainers, eh? I mean, paying a little to see their show would be OK, but they won’t stop with that. They want it all… with not a care if grandma goes broke and loses her home.
And Sophia defends them. Well, GLORY!
Oh Sophia, thank you so much for your comment, I now have the perfect excuse to ‘wine down’. In fact I feel this phrase could become become a family saying ‘Darling time for a wine down before we read the rubbish comments fundies write on Mr G’s blog’. We still say about such commenters ‘The hamster died but the wheel’s still spinning’, a phrase learned from this blog that caused us much hilarity…..so here’s another ‘if the cap fits Sophia…..’ Happy wine down Polly and Bruce and many more of them!
Sophias reply reminds me of one of the many reasons why I left the fold. Having been on the receiving end of this type of abuse, I concur with Bruce;*SIGH*
Folks like her fail to see such comments only push many of us further away while revealing their true inner core; Fuck being kind, I have to defend my faith even if it means insulting you. It’s what Jesus would have done!
*SIGH*
